The premium wines of Pazo de La Cuesta, the oldest family winery in Galicia, are being recognized internationally by the world’s leading prescribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brancellao 2022 and the newcomer La Pastoriza 2022, launched in December, are achieving high distinctions. In November, US wine critic James Suckling awarded them 90 points each, and the \u201cbible\u201d of Galician wines, better known as the Gu\u00eda de vinos, destilados y bodegas de Galicia, directed by Luis Paad\u00edn, awarded them the great gold medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, La Pastoriza has recently received, in the VinEspa\u00f1a contest, a great gold medal, and the international expert and collaborator of Tim Atkin, Beth Willard, has given it 93 points. For her part, Willard has rated the Brancellao 2022 wine with 94 points. The Brancellao wine of Pazo de La Cuesta is one of the few wines made 100% with this variety found in the Ribeira Sacra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Pastoriza 2022 is a white wine made mainly with Godello from 40-year-old vines, arranged on trellises. The blend is completed with a small contribution of Albari\u00f1o and Treixadura. It is aged in French oak foudres on fine lees for eight months. It has a limited production of 1,987 bottles, all of them numbered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brancellao 2022 is a red wine made from the native Brancellao grape, which comes from our vineyards with 40-year-old trellised vines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAZO DE LA CUESTA: THE OLDEST FAMILY WINERY IN GALICIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2020, Pazo de La Cuesta, located in Ribas de Sil, has been immersed in a project of renovation and recovery of its historic vineyard and the restoration of the primitive cellar of the sixteenth century. The oldest family winery in Galicia has belonged to the same family since its foundation and it has been Manuel Bellod \u00c1lvarez de Lorenzana, who is part of the fourteenth generation, the one in charge of starting this initiative assuming the commitment to return the prestige of yesteryear to the pazo, its vineyard and its wines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
